SuMO advocates for the purest representation of Hawaii's A + ID aesthetic. We specialize in the fulfillment of Hawaii's Interior Designer's visions with a product offering of finishes which influence public + private experience: wallcovering, architectural panels, wood and metal laminates, engineered wood and marble flooring + wall panels.  A 2nd generation collection of materials which have been proven over decades of time in Hawaii's hotels, medical facilities, commercial spaces and private dwellings.

WHAT DO WE DO?

SuM.O. works with Interior Designers, Architects and Contractors to fulfill the finish needs of every project. Prompt customer service + sample deliveries, presentations and private sample library tours are a few of the main services SuM.O. provides. Home and business owners are welcome to schedule a private finish consultation by trade referral only. You may schedule an appointment online by filling out the contact form.

HISTORY OF SuMO

Nalani Sato (bottom middle) founded SuMO after 14 years of industry experience working for her Dad, Paul Rasmussen (top middle), owner of design cornerstone Architectural Surfaces Inc. For several years prior to working for Paul, each of Nalani's three siblings took turns holding down the business with the Pop's while she traveled and worked as a model in the 1990's. She was later a groom in NYC at an equine facility while she studied Fine Arts.

Nalani moved back to O'ahu and took a temporary position at Architectural Surfaces Inc. covering administrative duties. In 2005, she

earned herself a full time position in an organizational capacity and continued on doing that to design and maintain seasonal showroom displays, built new websites, oversaw technology-related administrative upgradeshandled print advertising campaigns, designed an award-winning showroom* on the ground floor of Na Lama Kukui. Nalani finally embarked outside of the showroom and into the studios in the capacity of Outside Sales person. Paul eventually retired and closed Architectural Surfaces in 2017.

Surface Mode of Operation is a nod to generations past in a fresh, clean / modern presence. It is a peaceful advocacy in celebration of the Hawaiian Island's Architecture and Interior Design voices. Come play!
